Why we still believe in the high street

We have watched a lot change on the high street over four decades. Shops have come and gone, the way people buy has shifted more than once, and plenty of people wrote off the town centre altogether.

We never quite believed it. What we do is not really about handing over a bag at the till. It is about the welcome, the honest opinion, the person who remembers what you bought last spring and what suits you. You cannot download that.

Wyle Cop is one of the loveliest independent streets in the country, full of people who care about what they do. Every time you choose a shop like ours over a click, you keep a little of that alive, and we do not take it for granted.

So thank you, genuinely, to everyone who still makes the trip up the hill to see us. The kettle is usually on.
